Should You Weigh Yourself Everyday?

By Dan Curtis What do you do about the scale? If you weigh yourself everyday you will likely see your weight bounce up and down, and on up days you can get discouraged. That is why many trainers will tell you to ignore the scale. They will tell you that what is really important is how fit you are, and not how much you weigh. And on the other hand, there are diet programs and diet books that focus only on the scale, and sell you on quick weight loss based on nothing but the scale. Which way is right? Scale or no scale? They both have some truth in them. Lets sort it out. We tend to be focused on the scale, because it is such an easy thing to measure, and it is easy to compare the numbers. You read that your favorite celebrity lost 25 poundsyou can easily understand that. You read, Lose 15 pounds in 2 days! You can certainly understand that. The scale gives us a number that we can use and compare and use. It is simple. But if you think about it, the reason we are so intent on the scale is not because we really are so interested in numbers, but because we are interested in looking good. We want to be lean. We want to be sexy. We want our clothes to fit, and we want to be appealing to others. And we know that when we lose weight we get these things. So we get hooked on the scale. But the scale is just one part of it. What is really important is the details that we cannot measure so easily. For instance, you can lose weight but instead of losing fat you lose muscle. This happens all the time with quick weight loss diets. When you are done, you dont look as good as you thought you would. Your arms are still flabby. Your belly still sags. You still dont look good in a bathing suit and you are still embarrassed about your body. And since you dont have as much muscle to burn up calories, you gain the weight back faster than ever. See, even if the scale improved, you didnt accomplish what you wanted. So even though it is harder to measure, what you really want to know is how much lean body mass you have as well as how much fat you have. If you became really lean, really firm, with sleek, strong muscles, and you saw your trim abs in the mirror, the firm arms, and the sexy butt, you wouldnt care what the scale said. On the other hand, the people who are the most successful in weight loss, in taking the weight off and keeping it off forever, are people who have a weight loss goal and who actually reach that goal. Not the people who lose some of their excess weight, or who get almost to the goal. No, the people who keep it off get all the way to their exact goal. Many people can lose some of their weight and get part way to their goal. But the vast majority gain it back. But those people who have a goal and reach the goal are much more likely to keep the weight off. So you see, there are two sides to the weight loss coin. There is more to losing weight and getting the body you want than the scale. And on the other hand, having a goal and reaching it will dramatically increase your odds of staying lean forever. So what do you do? The best way is to make the scale part of your plan, but not the whole plan. Weigh yourself regularly, keep a chart, and watch only the long-term trend, not the daily ups and downs. And you can get the body you want. Dan Curtis, M.D. Can help YOU lose weight. Summer Party Have One Today

By Jason Montag Have you ever been to a party that consisted of nothing more than a bunch of snacks, a small radio and a bunch of people sitting around trying to find something to talk to the other guests about? The odds are good that you have been to one of these. If you want to have a party that your guests will be talking about for weeks and months to come, make sure they have fun. There are a few things that you will have to do in order to ensure the guests have a blast. The first thing that you must do is get a good sound system and play a great assortment of music for everyone to dance to and enjoy. Even if there is not a place for the group to dance the music makes a perfect background to any good party. You can choose to borrow a sound system, rent one or go further and rent a DJ to bring their equipment and their music. If you choose to go that route make sure you get references form people that you know. The odds are good that if a friend of your used a DJ and love their performance, the same person will do a great job for you. If you have been to a recent party and like the music then there is nothing wrong with asking the party host who the DJ was so that you can get a hold of them. There are a lot of other details to consider when putting together a successful party, and these will be covered in later installments. In our opinion the first and foremost detail to take care of is the music and that will be the crowning jewel of your event. Your guests will thank you for the amazing time they will have. You will have a blast too. Learn more about an inflatable moonwalk here. A Risk of Being Real in a Relationship Brings a Certain Reward

By Barbara Rose, Ph.D. To be there, to love, what is the price? What will it cost you to receive all you are entitled to? To be in a relationship, there is a payment that must be made if you wish to receive all you desire from the other. If your payment is fear, withholding your true feelings, holding back, allowing fear to block the flow of truth, then you receive loneliness and validate your own lack of self-worth. This validation only breeds further feelings of alienation; you do not experience all the rich joy you can receive when your payment is genuine truth. To share your truth is perhaps one of the scariest feelings that exists between lovers and romantic friends today. When you take the risk to bear your soul, expose the real you, and reveal your genuine feelings, you become vulnerable; you may be afraid that your open heart will be pierced by another. But there is another dynamic you may wish to consider and experiment with, a tiny bit at a time. Risk exposing your feelings. Take a tiny risk, just as a baby takes a tiny risk with his first steps. Yes, your fears may cause you to stumble, to close your heart again. But if you are with a person you truly love, and you take a baby step to expose your truth, then you can see the reaction. Then you can see how you will be treated as you risk sharing the genuine feelings you hold inside. If you are with a person you truly love, and you do take tiny steps to share your genuine feelings, you will find that you are rewarded with love, acceptance, and appreciation in return. Then take another step, take an action, do something special together, and watch, feel, and be amazed at the new joy you will discover. As you take tiny steps, first with vision and will, then with action, you will find the rewards are akin to those of a baby learning to walk: Wow, I can do it! The baby thinks, I will do this again! After many attempts of risking to share genuine love and true feelings, you will find that you stumble back into old patterns far less than you did before. And you walk beside the one you love more easily. And soon you may want to run together to dare to go all the way, to run, and laugh, and experience the true freedom and joy of sharing your true self, your true and honest feelings with the one person who has truly been there for you through all your past stumblings. When you find this with another, you have found real love. You have found one with whom you can share your deepest fears, your greatest insecurities, your biggest mistakes, and still be loved and appreciated for all of who you are. When you find such a person in your life, you must know there is a reason for this to have happened to you. You may choose to take a deeper look beyond the simple romantic or friendly attraction and realize that perhaps there are greater reasons, higher reasons for your finding one another. Perhaps you are to do something together. Perhaps you are to truly be there by each others side, a hand to hold, arms to hug, love to feel, fun to share, friendship to grow, trust to bloom, and memories to create that you can treasure together for your life. There have been many people who have turned their backs to the love they have found, and in each case, those people have never forgotten, nor have they ever been able to replace their true match with another. They live with regret. They live with a heart longing for the joy and beauty they once had but were too afraid to embrace fully; they turned their backs on the one they truly loved, and never found such a true love again. Love, pure love, honest and genuine love, does not die. You can travel to every corner of the globe. You can watch the seasons pass. But no matter how far you travel or how many years have gone by since you held the one you love in your arms, your heart, your soul will never forget this one person. You may also find that the one who brings out your greatest growth, who makes you see all of the areas that need healing is precisely the person you may find yourself wanting to run away from. Who wants to face all of that hurt? If that happens, be wise enough to ask yourself, Isnt that why we have true relationships, to genuinely become the best we can be? And how can we become our best when we ignore or run away from those areas we need to heal? We cannot. So the one who causes you great frustration is also the one who ultimately brings you the greatest joy: the discovery of the genuine you. Once you do grow through the challenges, the rewards of such a deep and genuine understanding between two people could never be replaced by a shallow, superficial relationship. Love is a gift, and appreciation for this gift must be shown. There is the saying, Hurt me once, shame on you; hurt me twice, shame on me. This universe will send you a gift of love, a true match, once. If you choose to throw this gift away, if you do not show appreciation for it, you can be certain this universe will not be foolish enough to give you a gift so rare and so special again in this life. You must know that when a person treasures you, when he or she sees through to the core of you and accepts you fully, with all of your faults, you have been blessed. Now, if you love this person, if you truly do, deep inside, love this person, then give yourself this gift of love, cherish and treasure the gift you have received, for if you do not, you shall not ever know such a gift again in this life. You will know deep down in your heart when all of the elements are there. You will feel so at peace and, at the same time, so challenged challenged to grow, challenged to evolve and lift yourself above and beyond your fears of intimacy. This work on self is required in order to continue experiencing the gift of this love in your life. Debilitating fears of closeness or of opening ones heart are also patterns that must be recognized and worked through. So ask yourself, How can I notice when those old feelings come up? Become conscious of them. If you remain on automatic pilot, you will automatically sabotage the relationship. Fear of being hurt or vulnerable is understandable and quite common. When left unnoticed, unchecked, and unattended to, however, it is also the source of pain. How do you attend to your fears? You simply acknowledge their existence. You say, Oh look, this is what I have been feeling, this is what happens to me. Do I want this feeling or pattern to take charge, or do I prefer something different? It comes down to a preference, an individual choice not to react but to consciously decide how you are going to respond when you notice your fears coming to the surface. Once you become fully conscious of them, their paralyzing effect dwindles; instead of feeling smothered by an avalanche, you feel the slight sting of a pebble. Awareness of an old pattern greatly reduces its effects on you. There is always a period of tremendous anxiety when old fears come to the surface. Realize, however, that this anxiety does, in fact, pass. It is a feeling. Feelings flow. One feeling, no matter how horrible or anxiety provoking, does not last forever. So once you notice the anxiety coming to the surface, you become the one in charge. You are no longer run by old tapes that do not help you experience all you prefer to experience now. Those old tapes may have served you in the past, protecting you from pain from a certain person. But now that you have found someone else, someone special, those old tapes can only be destructive. If you become aware of your feelings and allow the anxiety to pass by sharing what you think and how you feel, then you no longer risk losing a person you may not ever be able to replace. This is far better than allowing old, self-protective patterns that are in your comfort zone to destroy your opportunity for genuine love and genuine healing. Would you rather lose true love because it feels uncomfortable? Is that what you want? Look around you. Think of all the people you have dated. Think of how many years you have gone without this one very special person. Do you want to lose this gift simply because it is scary for you to take personal responsibility and notice your feelings as they surface? You do not have to be perfect. You cannot be perfect. But if you decide to take charge of an old pattern and act to heal your inner self, you will find that the one you love will not leave your side. Copyright by Barbara Rose, All Rights Reserved. Checks And Balances

By Sintilia Miecevole Checks are basically written for the transfer of funds from the account of a check holder in a bank or any other depository institution. The purpose of checks is similar to that of money, easing transactions. One needs to keep in mind certain things to avoid problems on a later date. Take care that you use a proper pen, preferably use an ink pen. All the information should be filed in carefully. Look out that the numerical and written check amounts match. In case of cancellation of a check, be sure to keep an account of it. That will help you in matching and reconciling your accounts. When you sign, sign in a legible manner since a scrawl is easier to copy. Draw a line once you are through filling the amount of a check. The line ensures that the blank space cannot be filled later. The banks have a certain set of rules and regulations in order to protect themselves against frauds. In order to cash a check at times you might even have to give your thumbprints in case of getting a check encashed at a bank other than where you have an account. The state law does not enlist the means of identification of a person. It is up to a bank to decide the means of verification. In most cases it is the ID of a person. The banks have the liberty of refusing a check that could have been issued by the Government also at times. This is again done by the banks to protect against the risk. The customer might be a trickster and once the check is encashed the bank never gets to see that person again. Moreover, a bank might not have the requisite cash for offsetting the credit. The banks may be ready to go that extra bit for their own customers but not in case of non-customers. A bank is also not obliged to pay for a stale check dating more than six months, with the exception of a certified check. In the case of bad checks the state law imposes a criminal penalty. A bad check means refusal of payment upon the presentation of the check, which is in the knowledge of the issuer. The penalty ranges from a misdemeanor to a Class D felony, depending upon the amount of the check. A customer has a right to stop payment on the check by giving the bank a clear notice that it has reasons to stop it. An oral order has to be backed by a written complaint within a period of 15 days. The order for a stop payment holds good for six months. About The Author Sintilia Miecevole Click on to http://www.fdxcheck.com and find a most interesting site with your host, Sintilia Miecevole. Cell Phones Cause Cancer: Myth Busted

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joshua_Daly]Joshua Daly Cell phone users can sleep a little better tonight, your not going to get cancer from your cell phone. A massive Danish study published today in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute debunks the myth that cell phones cause cancer. The study included a group of 420,095 Danish cell phone users. The study examined the cancer rates of cell phone users that began cell phone use from 1982 to 1995 and follows their cancer rates through 2002. Denmark was an ideal place for this study because they keep a national cancer registry. This is a system that logs and tracks every person who is inflicted with the deadly disease. In the study, cancer appeared in only 14,249 people in the research group, as apposed to 15,001 cases that appeared in the general population. According to an article in ars technical, Cell phone users had no higher risk of brain tumors, acoustic neuromas, salivary gland tumors, eye tumors, or leukemias, though the study’s authors note that ongoing research is needed to make sure the results hold true for those who have used a cell phone for more than 10 years. This is by far the largest most comprehensive piece of evidence to combat the urban legend that cell phones cause cancer. Among the 56,000 cell phone users that were watched for more than a decade, the research concluded there is absolutely no increased risk of cancer due to cell phone use. Good news to the more than 219 million Americans that use cell phones regularly. This article was brought to you courtesy of epharmacies.com. The Best Weight Loss Advice You’ll Ever Get

By David McGimpsey “Who are you to give me weight loss advice?” I hear you ask. “You have no dietary or medical qualifications, but you’re going to give me the best advice I’m ever likely to hear?” Let me explain… I’m not here to offer you radical diet plans. You’ve probably heard of them all by now anyway: from low-carb to low-fat to low-calorie, there’s probably even low-oxygen by now (That damn high energy air)! What I am here to point out is, that there is one person in charge of your weight. You. You are in charge. Not your husband or wife or friends, only YOU. Because you’re in charge, that means you can choose to have the body and health you want, whenever you want, right? Now you’re saying, “Yes, but I need to lose the weight now!” This is part of the problem. We can be motivated to be in charge of weight loss if we think it’s going to happen quickly and we can see results immediately. The issue here is that this promotes yo-yo dieting. We get immediate results on the latest fad diet, go out to the dinner party we wanted to look good for, and then go back to our old habits, only to gain back the weight and then some. Why do we do this? Because we hear of the quick fix so often that in the back of our minds we believe that we’ll be able to lose the weight immediately before the next dinner party. A popular weight loss author says that most people who go on conventional diets gain all the weight back and sometimes end up fatter than when they started. So, I’m going to tell you the *real* way to lose weight. The real *permanent* way to lose weight is not low-carb, low-calorie, low-fat or low anything else (especially not low-oxygen!). The real way to lose weight is using what you’re processing each of these words with. That’s right, your mind! You must be focused on not simply losing weight, but focused on maintaining a lifestyle that allows you to keep your body healthy. Think of all the reasons you *should* be healthy. Self talk and motivation are the keys. Only you can motivate yourself and only you can keep yourself focused. I know you’re not going to like it, but this does mean excercise as well as healthy eating. We all say we don’t have time to exercise, or don’t have time to eat right. But think about this. We’re so busy rushing around doing important things and not having the time to do what’s right for our bodies, we’re shortening our lives. Consider that the next time you jump in the car to go two blocks… Check out David’s weight loss resources at http://www.weight-loss.minisitereview.com. Salary Negotiation: How To Earn More Money and Respect From Your Employer

By Lucia Apollo Shaw Despite how important fair pay is to most of us, effective salary negotiation is an often misunderstood and avoided topic. Current research indicates the average duration of a position today is 3.8 years. Over the lifespan of your career, how well you negotiate raises or starting pay will have an enormous cumulative effect on the quality of your life. So why does this skill remain elusive for many career professionals? Most of us do thorough research and prepare extensively for a job interview. We create the perfect resume, slave over cover letter drafts, and rehearse answers to anticipated interview questions. We make sure were dressed right, have references, and are on time. But all too often, only cursory attention is given to thinking through how, when, and why well end up being happy with the terms of our pay. One problem is that cultural taboos in our society make talking about money a no-no. Many of us regard money negotiation as inherently unseemly, or we feel guilty about not accepting whats been offered so nicely. Isnt haggling supposed to take place if youre buying hand-made rugs somewhere in Turkey? We want to believe that the first offer we hear should be the highest dollar figure possible; moreover, we dont want to rock the boat and potentially ruin our chances of landing that great job. That voice inside of us whispers Everything in this interview has been going great! Dont wreck it now!. Like it or not, though, youre a negotiator. You cant get off this ride. Negotiation routinely takes place in dozens of ways in our daily lives. Given the fact that you will make or lose several thousand dollars in the span of a few minutes, learning how to respectably negotiate your pay is vital! Notice I say respectably. Unfortunately, I see countless candidates who either come off way too aggressively, or much too meekly, for their own good. This is often because of a lack of self-preparation and practice. Many candidates also fail to realize their position in the marketplace and the position of the employer. Not good! The good news is that salary negotiation skills can be learned or improved upon. Here are seven key tips to being paid what youre worth while maintaining a healthy respect others have for you: Dont believe that effectively negotiating your salary means that you must have the mentality of a used-car salesperson! You arent being slippery, out of line or ungrateful to not accept the first figure thats tossed out. Most employers value candidates who clearly possess self-respect and confidence in themselves; these qualities are revealed through the skill and poise in how you negotiate your paythey are aso revealed if you do nothing. Think about it: Doesnt it make sense that if you demonstrate effective negotiation capabilities for yourself, that in turn youll negotiate smartly for your employer, too? Hiring managers pick up on this. Do remember that your value is far more important than a number somewhere on a spreadsheet. Yes, this is true despite common cries that payroll budgets being fixed, this is the best we can do or in this economy, you must be realistic. Employers by and large are not searching for cheap bargains but want value in their employees. A common misconception is Ill have a better chance of getting the job if I dont ask for much moneyI wont cost as much as other candidates. Dont go there! Concentrate on the value you bring, not how little you cost. By the way, if you do this properly, the question of previous salary history should be much less relevant. This means you will have a better chance at jumping to higher ranges faster in your career. Dont (and I mean never) accept any form of benefits before you negotiate your salary. Why? Once some form of compensation other than salary is accepted by you, the employer has leverage in justifying why your salary should be lower. Remember to always get agreement on the starting salary first. Then negotiate non-salary benefits and special considerations afterwards. Do delay talking about compensation; try to discuss your value, and the specific benefits you can bring to the table, for as long as possible. The employer should perceive you as a valuable, one-of-a-kind resourcenot an off-the-shelf good with a price tag. Think of those high-end infomercials that delay revealing what the price of the offer is until the very end (if at all). The whole point of the infomercial is to draw your attention to the value of the good or service and its many different uses and applications. Certainly something that clearly validates a gain or cost-savings of $25,000.00 would be attractively valued at $2,499.99. But would you really pay attention to an ad that immediately said its cost was $2,499.99? Probably not! The same psychology applies to salary negotiation. The longer the interview process continues, the more likely you will be regarded as a valuable resource obviously worthy of upper-range pay. Dont accept any offer, no matter how lucrative, on the spot. Instead, express your continued interest in the position and how you clearly see yourself making contributions (specify them one more time again). Then always ask for 24 hours to consider the offer. Certainly a day will give the hiring manager time to find any necessary wiggle room, if need be. Be passionate and excited, but dont lose your objectivityany position that will be the center of your daily professional life for years to come wont melt in 24 hours. Right? Do remember the old axiom he (or she) who speaks first loses. Wait until an offer has been madebut dont respond immediately. Remember that in many cases, what is initially offered to you may be the lowest figure the hiring manager dares to put forward. This is mission critical territory: Often, even casual remarks made by you constitute implied acceptance of the offer…Which can quickly become explicit acceptance as the conversation moves on. Dont let this happen! Instead, intentionally steer the conversation back to the responsibilities of the position. Who will you be supervising? What are some tangible, specific contributions you see yourself making? Where do you picture yourself in the organization in the future? The greater long-term picture you create, the greater the likelihood you will negotiate more effectively. You can only really begin to negotiate after you have clearly brought to life realistic present and future scenarios. Dont over-negotiate. How do you know when to recognize what is too little or too much? By researching your market ahead of time. Dont just go to www.salary.com and think you should be earning a certain dollar figure without taking into consideration the unique opportunities every employer possesses. This is not really true research. A salary is compensation paid for services performed. Your salary should be commensurate with your skills and experience built yesterday, but negotiated for the work you will be doing today and tomorrow. The Natural Diet

By Dr Wei Feng 3 Simple Steps from Nature. 1. What to eat 2. How to eat 3. When to eat WHAT TO EAT Anything fresh… Fresh food should be the mainstay of your diet. Preferably a wide variety of foods, that are locally produced and in season. Nature will always provide you with the best food in your region each season. Avoid pre-prepared and packaged, processed or frozen foods, especially those with additives and preservatives. Follow this simple rule; As long as you do not have to open a package, box or can you can eat or drink it. HOW TO EAT You should eat plenty of raw foods and certainly when cooking avoid boiling for long periods, micro-waving and deep frying. Ideally, lightly grill, steam or stir fry. WHEN TO EAT Listen to your body and eat when you feel hungry. Every meal should be eaten slowly, at a table or in a place where you can enjoy and allow your body and mind to focus on the process. Chew each mouthful. Dont gulp down your food whilst you are doing something else like watching TV, working on your computer or doing something that will distract you. Take your time and enjoy your food. Most importantly, when you feel full, stop eating . and put it away. It takes a few minutes from the time the food is digested to inform the brain that this is sufficient. Give yourself and your brain some time to digest the food physically and mentally. Try and avoid drinking whilst you are eating. If you must drink, have some room temperature water, never cold or a glass of wine or warm tea. AVOID (OR AT THE VERY LEAST CONSUME IN MODERATION): – any junk/fast food; – fatty or deep fried food; – milk/cheese, unless you own the cow and you can have the fresh milk; – refined sugar and other sweet food such as chocolate and candy; – cakes, biscuits, refined and processed cereals; – fizzy or artificial drinks, including juice made from concentrate; – coffee from any jar (and that includes Nescafe) or any decaf coffee. Its ok to drink fresh coffee in moderation; and – excessive consumption of alcohol. TIPS FROM NATURE – Listen to your body and it will tell you what you need and when to eat. – Although we are programmed to drive and buy as much as we can from the supermarket, make an effort not to. For a while, try to walk to the local grocer each day, look at the fruit and vegetables available and choose the ones that your palate calls for that day. Variety is very important. The same goes for fish, meats and other products. Not to mention the benefits of the daily walk. Follow these guidelines and eating naturally will always provide you with the nutrients your body needs.
